VFW Post 1534 received Congressional Recognition from Congressman Raul Ruiz in Oct 2023 for its participation and hosting the Vietnam Veterans Stand Down. VFW Post Commander Jeff Cole has received Congressional Recognition from Congressman Raul Ruiz on two different occasions in 2023 for his continuous outreach, support, and advocacy for our veterans in the Coachella Valley.
In the year of 2023, VFW Post 1534 hosted a Marine Luncheon with VFW Post 1534 & 3699 Auxiliary, hosted and participated in a Vietnam Veterans Stand Down where VFW Post 1534 received Congressional Recognition from Congressman Raul Ruiz.
Commander Cole attended the DHS Veterans Day Ceremony where he again received Congressional Recognition from Congressman Raul. Members of Post 1534 have visited and conducted Pinning Ceremonies to veterans on hospice, participated in the Palm Springs Veterans Day Parade, and attended Angel Force USA’s Veterans Suicide Prevention Fundraiser. Post 1534 partnered with VFW Post 3699, and American Legion Post 519 to have Veterans Night at the Palm Springs Power Baseball Game, on numerous occasions. Post 1534 and 3699 provided events with a color guard, donated food to the DHS Food Now Program, donated Thanksgiving Dinner to Shea’s Veterans Center in Desert Hot Springs.
VFW Post 1534 hosted Commanders Jeff Coles 2nd Annual PTSD/Suicide Prevention and Awareness Event. VFW Post 1534 has participated in company grand opening by raising the flag on opening day, with the help of Post 3699 Auxiliary we passed out 20 Thanksgiving turkeys to veterans and families in need, VFW Post 1534 has done numerous food drives to help support veterans and families in need within our community.
