Title: Director of Business Development
Full Time Non-Exempt Hourly + Commissions on Membership and Advertising Sales
Reports to: President/CEO
About the Role:
As a Director of Business Development (Membership/Ad Sales Executive) at Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce you will play a crucial role in driving the growth and success of our organization by acquiring new members and fostering strong relationships with existing ones. Your primary responsibility will be to identify, engage, and convert potential members while providing exceptional customer service – this role is for a highly organized individual who will be an expert in communications (written and verbal) with the ability to complete data entry and other administrative projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prospecting and Outreach:
- Identify and target potential members within the local business community.
- Conduct research with the CEO to understand the needs and goals of prospective members.
- Develop and execute effective outreach strategies, including cold calling, email campaigns, and networking events.
- Sales Presentations:
- Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations highlighting the benefits of Chamber membership.
- Tailor presentations to address the specific needs and interests of each potential member.
- Effectively articulate the value proposition of Chamber membership and its impact on business growth.
- Listen to member goals.
- Use strong time management in member meetings.
- Membership Acquisition:
- Negotiate membership terms and close deals with prospective members.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of membership applications and payments.
- Maintain a strong pipeline of potential members and track sales progress.
- Sell the RMCC product and nothing more/less.
- Member Retention and Engagement:
- Foster strong relationships with existing members by providing exceptional customer service.
- Identify opportunities to increase member engagement and participation in Chamber activities.
- Resolve member inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Event Planning and Coordination:
- Assist in the planning and execution of Chamber events, such as ribbon cuttings, networking mixers, seminars, and conferences.
- Promote member participation in events and facilitate networking opportunities.
- Event promotions.
- Flagship event support.
Qualifications:
- Proven track record in sales, preferably in a business-to-business environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion abilities.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.

SUMMARY
Working closely with Senior Management, the Director of Business Development is responsible for meeting sales goals (memberships, retention and advertisements) and is expected to have an organized calendar and structured meeting days. Data entry will be key for optimal success.
The goal of this position will be to engage potential members through outreach, phone calls, letters and email communications.

This role will require occasional early morning or late-night attendance for events.
As a director-level position, this will be a senior management role within the organization and, as such, will be expected to participate in strategic planning activities.
Further, the Director of Business Development work directly with other members of Senior Management to guide activities in support of the organization’s revenue generation activities.
This is not an exhaustive job description and additional tasks may be added as required by the President/CEO based on the needs of the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Work with President & CEO on sales plan of action, communications and marketing.
Administer and execute networking event programming including, not limited to Power Lunches, Mixers, and New Member Orientations.
Constant event marketing, content, and communications. Assist VP of Operations in promotional tools relating to RMCC programs and events.
Work with Senior Management to maintain accurate and complete contact lists and database.
Assist in general office duties including phone coverage, visitor inquiries and fulfilling visitor’s requests, and bank deposits as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated excellent customer service experience a must.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
