Job Description

JOB TITLE:  Director of Events and Sponsorship
Full Time Non-Exempt Hourly + Commissions on Sponsorship Sales
Reports to: President/CEO

 

SUMMARY

Working closely with Senior Management, the Director of Events & Sponsorship is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and delivering events and programs while reaching sponsorship goals on behalf of the Rancho Mirage Chamber – which are of meaningful value to our membership and stakeholders.

This role will collaborate with team members to bring innovative, and creative ideas and processes to the assignments to enhance the value and experience of stakeholders. The goal of this position will be to engage members through events and sponsorship opportunities to achieve the anticipated retention and budget goals.

This role will require occasional early morning or late-night attendance for events.

As a director-level position, this will be a senior management role within the organization and, as such, will be expected to participate in strategic planning activities.

Further, the Director of Events & Sponsorship work directly with other members of Senior Management to guide activities in support of the organization’s revenue generation activities.

This is not an exhaustive job description and additional tasks may be added as required by the President/CEO based on the needs of the organization.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Work with President & CEO on Flagship Events: Business EXPO, Speaker Series, Marketing Summit, Installation & Awards Dinner “The Rammys”, Golf Tournament, State of the City, Candidates Forum, Nurses Appreciation Luncheon/Video.

Administer and execute networking event programming including, not limited to Power Lunches, Mixers, and New Member Orientations.

Constant event marketing, content, and communications. Assist Director of Operations promotional tools relating to RMCC programs and events.

Work with Senior Management to maintain contact lists and database.

Assist in general office duties including phone coverage, monitoring the info@ email inbox, visitor inquiries and fulfilling visitor’s requests, and bank deposits as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated excellent customer service experience a must.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Database Software; Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word) and Electronic Mail Software (Outlook), A successful candidate will be proficient in website management (WordPress) and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram).
