As part of the Rancho Mirage 50th anniversary celebration, Preservation Mirage, whose mission is to celebrate the architectural history of Rancho Mirage by promoting its protection and appreciation worked with the current ‘Rancho Super Car Wash’ operators and owner to apply for a full historic designation for the city’s only neon sign. Unanimously approved by our City Council on September 7th, ensuring the Pink Elephant remains a permanent fixture on Highway 111 for generations to come.
To celebrate the designation and full restoration taking place this December, Preservation Mirage in partnership with the City of Rancho Mirage, invites you to ‘Party with the Pink Elephant’ — an evening of special entertainment. Enjoy a special performance by the Rancho Mirage High School Band, learn about the unique history of the Pink Elephant, Buckle up as Desert Theatricals takes us on a journey down the star-studded streets of Rancho Mirage, then dance the night away with the infamous DJ Modgirl. Willie’s Bistro has designed a custom food & beverage menu, including a full bar, available for purchase.
John Pirman, a mid-century modernist, artist, and designer, was commissioned to create an original work of art depicting the most iconic Rancho Mirage landmark. The 18” x 24” Poster will be available for purchase on-site for $35 signed or $25 unsigned, plus sales tax. All proceeds fund the full restoration of the sign; donations are always welcomed!
Tickets are $20 each, this event is complimentary for Preservation Mirage PRESERVATIONIST-level members who will automatically receive a 100% discount on up to two tickets at checkout.
All ticketed Preservation Mirage ADVOCATE, INDIVIDUAL, HOUSEHOLD, and PRESERVATIONIST-level members will receive complimentary access to the VIP Members Lounge featuring comfortable seating and dedicated waitstaff.
Please print your tickets or have the barcode readily available on your mobile device to be scanned upon arrival at the West Gate entrance.
The venue opens at 5:00 PM to grab seats, dinner, and drinks; seating is provided so please do not bring chairs. The show begins at 6:30 PM and don’t forget to put on your dancing shoes as DJ Modgirl will be spinning Motown and hits from the decades starting at 7:30 PM.
