The Gulf California Broadcast Company, owners of KESQ News Channel 3, KPSP CBS Local 2 and four other television and radio stations, is excited to announce the addition of a 4pm newscast effective September 6th following Labor Day weekend. The new newscast will air weekdays from 4-5pm on both KESQ News Channel 3 and KPSP CBS Local 2.
The hour long newscast will flow directly into the markets’ top rated 5pm news. The time period on KESQ was previously occupied by The Ellen DeGeneres show, which will be concluding this summer.
“We believe that the Palm Springs market is hungry for local news and information”, says General Manager Jerry Upham. ““This gives viewers the opportunity to get breaking news and the day’s top stories earlier, and in a format different than other newscasts”.
News Channel 3, widely recognized as “The Desert’s News Leader”, provides the Coachella Valley superior coverage of breaking news, severe weather and major national news, delivered by the Coachella Valleys most experienced news team. Newscasts in the 4pm time period have become popular for local TV stations across the country as viewers look to stay up-to-date on happenings in their community, as well as around the world.
“Our mission is to provide the Coachella Valley and desert area superior coverage of breaking news, severe weather, and major national news on all platforms every day, whether it’s on television, on the internet, or through our apps,””, says News Director Rebecca Johnson. “Adding an hour long 4pm newscast fits perfectly into fulfilling our commitment to our community”.
News Channel 3, widely recognized as “The Desert’s News Leader,” is the clear ratings leader in news viewership in the Palm Springs market.
