Gong chi fa cai! The River is excited to announce the first Annual Lunar Festival at The River. Presented by the City of Rancho Mirage Cultural Commission, honoring the yearly holiday celebrated all over the world. The free festivities in the Year of the Rabbit will include live music, vendors, lion dancers, children’s craft station, and more celebrating Asian arts and culture.
We have teamed up with the amazing City of Rancho Mirage Cultural Commission and the highly successful Panana Events to assist with hosting the festival this year. We felt bringing in the Commission was important because their main goal is to support the development and prospering of the cultural environment of the City of Rancho Mirage by enhancing access to cultural amenities for all residents. Panana continues to produce meaningful and cultural events that bring people together. They host highly successful Lantern/Lunar festivals in Riverside, Rancho Cucamonga, and Eastvale.
The Lunar New Year is one of the more important holidays in the Asian culture. The Chinese New Year celebrates the first day of the first month on the Chinese calendar. The dates according to the Western calendar of the Chinese New Year move each year, but always land between January 21st and February 20th. Each year has an animal associated with it, 1 of 12 animals, representing the 12 months of the year. Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig, Rat, and the Ox.
Come and celebrate the Year of the Rabbit, a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity at The River on Saturday, February 11th, from 11am-5pm. The only event of its kind in the area, it is not to be missed!
Located at 71800 Highway 111, Rancho Mirage, 92270 in our outdoor Amphitheatre.
