Iconic Rancho Mirage Landmark, “Super Rancho Mirage Car Wash” Pink Elephant Sign has been officially designated

September 22, 2023

To celebrate the historic designation of the ‘Super Rancho Car Wash’ Pink Elephant neon sign, local preservation group and RMCC nonprofit member Preservation Mirage has retained the premiere neon authority YESCO to undertake a full restoration and ongoing maintenance. To fund the endeavor, they commissioned artist John Pirman to create an original work of art depicting the most iconic Rancho Mirage landmark.

John Pirman is a mid-century modernist, artist, and designer based in Sarasota, Florida, where he is associated with Architecture Sarasota. His work is featured in The New York Times, Vogue, Wallpaper, and Fortune, among other publications. John has created campaigns for The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, The Ringling Museum of Art, Jet Blue, Viacom, and American Express. For 15 years he has designed holiday cards for the Museum of Modern Art. His private commission artwork, limited edition prints, and sculptures are widely collected.

Available as both a 24” x 32” made-to-order signed Archival Print and 18” x 24” lithograph Poster. All proceeds will fund the full restoration and ongoing maintenance of the historic pink elephant sign.
