$1.5 million machine offers fast, precise treatments in Coachella Valley with fewer sessions needed; open-house event set for March 7
RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif., Feb. 21, 2023 — GenesisCare, one of the leading radiation oncology providers in the United States, installed an advanced Varian TrueBeam® linear accelerator at its Rancho Mirage Radiation Oncology center. The new machine, part of a more than $1.5 million capital investment by GenesisCare, upgrades the radiotherapy options available close to home for cancer patients in the Palm Desert and Coachella Valley, offering fast, precise treatments with fewer sessions needed. GenesisCare physicians began treating patients with the TrueBeam® linear accelerator in January.

The Varian TrueBeam® LINAC treats cancerous tumors with higher-concentrated radiation doses than standard technology. This allows for patients to complete therapy with fewer fractions, or treatment sessions. This new LINAC features Align RT®, a surface-guided radiation therapy (SGRT) that uses 3D cameras and computer vision to monitor a patient’s breathing and ensure that treatment is administered safely and precisely.
