COD’s GREAT ALUMNI HUNT CULMINATES AT THE COACHELLA VALLEY FIREBIRDS GAME ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2023
The Coachella Valley Firebirds and Acrisure Arena Honor the COD Foundation as
Non-Profit of the Night while $8,000 in Student Scholarships are Awarded
Palm Desert, CA (October 18, 2023) The Great Alumni Hunt began on September 29, 2023 with 20 students from the College of the Desert participating in an “Amazing Race-style” competition. The students have been engaged to register the greatest number of COD alumni earning points for their team. Students have the opportunity to win one of six valuable scholarships, receive college credit, and were paired with community mentors to develop networking skills for career development. Throughout the month, several Quick-Fire events and Check-in Challenges took place at Sponsor’s businesses where they met with business leaders who toured their companies and introduced them to more COD alumni.
The Great Alumni Hunt Finale Celebration takes place on Wednesday, October 25th at Acrisure Arena as the Firebirds face off against the Ontario Reign. Over 1,000 COD alumni will fill the stands and prior to the third period, $8,000 in student scholarships will be announced and presented on center ice.
Tickets are available for the game with part of the proceeds supporting the COD Foundation’s Fund for Student Success. Supporters may purchase tickets here or a make a donation online.
COD CARES: DIAPER DRIVE FOR STUDENT PARENTS
In the spirit of giving back, game attendees are invited to bring along diapers to donate to the Central Pantries at the Indio and Palm Desert campus and the Child Development Center at the Palm Desert campus. For COD students, it is the non-tuition expenses that pose significant challenges to their educational goals. This simple act of generosity can make a world of difference in the lives of those student parents in need. Drop off your diaper donation by the Acrisure box office, located at the Northeast corner.
