RANCHO MIRAGE, CA (November 28, 2020) – The City of Rancho Mirage is opening its first drive-through COVID-19 testing site on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. Testing will take place 5 days a week, Tuesday – Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. through December 31, 2020. Tests are free, contactless, and self-administered through Curative, which has completed more than six million such tests in 15 states across the U.S.
The drive-through testing site will be at the Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory’s west parking lot located at 71100 Highway 111, Rancho Mirage. Appointments are recommended. Online appointments and date/time/location information can be found by clicking the button below. Appointment slots open about 3-4 days in advance. The partnership between the City of Rancho Mirage and Curative will provide quick, easy, self-administered, painless oral fluid PCR COVID-19 testing at no-cost to Rancho Mirage residents and surrounding communities. Curative’s self-collected, painless oral fluid PCR COVID-19 test involves having a person first cough into their elbow or mask, which releases virus from the upper and lower respiratory tract. The person then swabs the teeth, inside of the cheeks and the roof of the mouth before sealing the test within a secure container and returning it to a Curative observer.
How much does the test cost? Does insurance cover it? What if I don’t have insurance? The test is of no charge to you. The Families First Coronavirus Response Act ensures that COVID-19 testing is free to anyone in the U.S., including the uninsured. You will not be charged a copay for taking a COVID-19 test.
