COVID-19 Coronavirus Update
Thousand Palms, CA – The World Health Organization declared virus outbreak, COVID-19 (Coronavirus) as an official pandemic on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. On March 19 202 California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a mandatory stay at home order for all of California. Only essential businesses are exempted from the order including plumbers, electricians, exterminators and other service providers who provide service that is necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences, “essential activities,” and essential businesses. General Air Conditioning & Plumbing is operating in full force to serve the needs of the community to keep them safe and comfortable, especially at a time when so many people are confined to their homes.
Effective immediately, General Air Conditioning & Plumbing has put in place a No Contact Service Call. Essentially, what this means is that the homeowner can request that the technician to have no contact with themselves or any other occupants of the home. All communication with the homeowner will be done by phone, video chat or text message. No paper documents will be exchanged and no signatures will be taken on electronic devices such a iPads. No face-to-face communication will be done with the homeowner, and if it so happens to be needed it will take place outside of the home with approved social distancing practices.
To even offer our customers and the community further protection we have created a “No Contact” sign that is available for download at no charge to anyone that wishes to use it. Homeowners can elect to hang this sign on their homes front entrance to let the General, other service providers and delivery drivers know that they wish to have no contact with them. If you would like the General to email you the file please contact us at info@callthegneral.com.
Additionally, General Air Conditioning & Plumbing wants to assure our community that all of our technicians are automatically performing safe COVID-19 procedures on all of our service calls. Each technician that will enter a home will wear exam gloves, a face mask, and shoe covers and are equipped with exposure suits that can be worn at the homeowner’s request. Employees showing symptoms of COVID-19 will be sent home and will not return until medically cleared. General Air Conditioning & Plumbing employees will also be informed to immediately report if they have been in contact with a person exhibiting flu-like symptoms. Prior to each home visit, our office will call the homeowner to confirm the appointment. At this time, the office will confirm that nobody within the residence is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or has experienced symptoms within the past 48 hours. We are encouraging those who are well to keep their appointments and encourage our customers who are ill or high risk to reschedule. In return, we ask all of our customers to respect the health and safety of our team and community. If any of our customers are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, we ask them to please contact our office at 760-203-4153 right away and we will be happy to reschedule.
These policy and procedures that we have set the General has set in place are largely precautionary and will be constantly monitored and adjusted as news of COVID-19 develops.
