Rancho Mirage, CA: The public is invited to join the Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Desert Bike Club, for a very special Ribbon Cutting celebration of new bike lanes in the city of Rancho Mirage on Sunday, November 17th at 10:00 am at Fire Station #69: 71751 Gerald Ford Drive.
This year there have been tremendous strides to improving Rancho Mirage’s bicycle network by adding enhancements to promote cyclist safety. An additional five miles of striped bicycle lanes were added within the City of Rancho Mirage, including sections on Dinah Shore Drive, Gerald Ford Drive, Da Vall Drive and Los Alamos Road. Rancho Mirage now has over 35 miles of striped bike lanes throughout the city.
Additional safety improvements added this year include: enhanced vibrantly colored striping at intersections, buffer lanes on Bob Hope Drive and safety markings and signage throughout the City. These roadway improvements are a demonstration to Rancho Mirage’s dedication to a bicycle network that is safer for everyone.
“We are an active valley of residents and visitors with the best weather in the world. These 35 miles of bike lanes are designed and operated to remind drivers that bicyclists are roadway users, too, while increasing the comfort level for bicyclists in traffic. Bicycle lanes improve mobility, safety, livability and public health while reducing traffic congestion and CO2 emissions,” says Katie Stice, chamber director, “we’re excited to celebrate the progress and growth of this great community and hope that you will join us!”
